Avon is a town found in Washington Township of Hendricks County, Indiana. It has a population of 12,446 residents, according to the 2010 census. The town was first settled around 1830. Following that, its post office first opened in 1868 under the name Smootsdell. It was then renamed as Avon in 1870, where it remained operating until it was discontinued in 1902. It was recently incorporated as a town in 1995.
