Needham is one of the nine townships incorporated in Johnson County, Indiana. During the census of 2010, population count was recorded at 2,611 residents living in 2,611 housing units. Before the area became a township, Needham was initially surveyed and mapped by Noah Needham and a post office was established and named after the surveyor called Needham’s station. The township was formed in 1881 and the post office was simply renamed as Needham.
